Konstantinos Zakoulas is an oil and energy expert with a diversified portfolio of skills specialised in technical, economic and policy issues of the energy sector. Having in-depth understanding of the energy and oil & gas markets his passion is to analyze holistically business problems in every part of the energy value chain and provide solutions. His skills are related to oil trading, market analysis, negotiations, business strategy, investment evaluation, price forecasting, petroleum policy, risk management and decision making. His goal is to contribute with his views and expertise to shaping the energy future of Greece and South East Europe.

Currently, he holds the position of the Bunkers Procurement Operator in Thenamaris Inc (Ships Management), a global ship manager of more than 90 high specification modern ocean-going vessels of several segments including oil tankers, bulk carriers, and containerships. His responsibilities include negotiating and fixing bunkers for the fleet (fuel oil and distillates), tracking the oil market movements and conducting in depth analysis of the oil and bunkers markets, monitoring fleet fuel inventory, assessing demand and presenting purchase arbitrage opportunities. He has developed several tools for analysing market trends and optimising bunkers procurement and he has also developed a strategic cost minimisation framework that has delivered savings of millions of dollars. Prior joining Thenamaris, he was in strategy consulting as visiting associate with the Boston Consulting Group (BCG).

Konstantinos holds a MEng in Electrical and Computer Engineering with a specialisation in energy from the National Technical University of Athens and a MSc in International Business, Energy and Petroleum from the University of Aberdeen.

When he does not devote his time to energy-related issues, he enjoys rock music, reading books, writing articles and going to the theatre.
