The quest for hydrocarbons in Cyprus – technical and operational perspectives

The event will consist of the a presentation of the material presented by the Greek Minister of the Environment, Energy and Climate Change to the Greek Prime Minister on the 26th of February 2014, which will be followed by a presentation by EDT Offshore, a company which has been active in the development of the Aphrodite field in Cyprus.

An in depth discussion on the perspectives and challenges of the development of hydrocarbon exploration and production in the region will then follow.

John Stamoudakis

John has worked in the first round of exploration Licenses in Western and North Western Greece between 1999-2002 with Enterprise Oil.

He has worked for Shell and BP in various high profile projects most notably the ACG (AZEri Chirag Gunashli) development in the Caspian as well as the Shah Deniz 1 Gas platform, the BTC (Baku Tbilisi Ceyhan) and SCP (South Caucasus) pipelines until 2006 when he joined the offshore and FPSO contractor SBM OFFSHORE for their Middle East and Caspian business as Project Manager with a direct Focus in Turkmenistan where he was involved in the development of an offshore oil field for Petronas Carigali of Malaysia. In 2008 and after first oil in Turkmenistan he was transferred to Brazil for the development of the pre-salt fields offshore Rio de Janeiro and the construction of the largest FPSO at the time for Petrobras the famous P-57. Late in 2010 he retuned back to London for a short spell with a German Heavy Lift company to develop their oil & gas office for Europe and Africa. In 2011 he joined Subsea 7 a Global leader in Engineering Procurement Construction & Installation of subsea infrastructure to run all their African, GoM & Mediterranean Logistics & Marine Operations.

John is the Vice Head of the Exploration and Production Focus Group of the Greek Energy Forum.
