We are very excited to announce that our second event of the GEF Energy Leaders Talk series will feature Mathios Rigas, Founding Shareholder and CEO of Energean Oil & gas, as speaker.
COVID-19 has impacted our industry and ways of working in ways that no-one could have predicted. As we are all forced to slow down our daily rythms, this is an excellent opportunity for self development and creativity. Rising to this challenge, GEF has launched a new online event series where leaders of the energy industry share with us their career journey and vision of the future.
Our aim is to bring our members closer together and at the same time inspire them during a time of high uncertainty. The Energy Leaders Talks series take the form of monthly online closed doors discussions, limited to the members of GEF.
The event is limited to GEF active members. In order to register you will need to provide us with your GEF Membership Number. About the Speaker
Mr Rigas is a founding shareholder of Energean Oil & Gas. He is a Petroleum Engineer with a combination of oil & gas and investment banking experience.
Prior to setting up Energean Oil & Gas, Mr. Rigas spent 18 years in investment banking and has experience in Private Equity investments in oil & gas, project finance and shipping. Between 2001 and 2007 Mr. Rigas set up, and became the Managing Partner of, Capital Connect Venture Partners, a Greek investment fund. From 1999 until 2001, Mr. Rigas managed Piraeus Bank’s Shipping Investment Banking division.
As Vice President of Shipping, Energy & Project Finance at Chase Manhattan Bank in London (1993-1999), Mr. Rigas arranged financing in excess of US$5 billion, mainly in the oil & gas sector.
He holds a Degree in Mining and Metallurgical Engineering from the National Technical University of Athens and an MSc / DIC Degree in Petroleum Engineering from Imperial College.
