Aspects of the Energy Union: Application and Effects of European Energy Policies in SE Europe and Eastern Mediterranean

A new book, spawned through the efforts of the Greek Energy Forum, has just been published!

The book provides a comprehensive exploration of some of the most critical issues regarding the EU’s Energy Union policy with a special focus on the effects the Energy Union policy has in two sensitive regional systems, Southeastern Europe and the Eastern Mediterranean. The Energy Union remains the driving force behind all the EU’s objectives regarding energy and the environment that pave the path for the existing European Green Deal strategy.

This publication conveys the main themes of the "Energy Union Future Leaders Academy”, the international educational program created and hosted by the Greek Energy Forum since 2017 with the objective to disseminate knowledge on the pillars of the Energy Union. Following up on the basic concept of the Academy, this publication addresses a series of issues essential for the future of energy systems in Europe.

In its fourteen chapters this book approaches the Energy Union policy through five main aspects of analysis, the security and geopolitical aspects of energy, the regional aspects and challenges in EU's neighbourhood, the regulatory aspects and legislative challenges, the transitional aspects to cleaner energy sources and the technical aspects of a united European energy system.

The book aspires to offer the opportunity for readers to get a quality, hands-on approach on the Energy Union by the professionals and academics that interact with it on an everyday basis.

The Greek Energy Forum extends its thanks to the book Editor, Michalis Mathioulakis, and all the authors, namely Dr. Maria Bozoudi, Dr. Dimitrios I. Doukas, Professor Dr. Panayotis Glavinis, Dr. Vassilios Kappatos, Dr. Spyros Kiartzis, Alexandros Lagakos, Constantine Levoyannis, Dr. Sotirios Manolkidis, Dr. Thrassy N. Marketos, Dr. Gokce Mete Mete, Marios Papalexandrou, Janessa Goh Pei-Ru, Iván Pineda, and Christos Syriopoulos, for their excellent analyzes in the chapters of this book.

A proper face-to-face book presentation is planned when the pandemic has been beaten and limitations will be lifted.
