A Step Closer to the Balkan Dream: Greece in the Epicenter of Gas Infrastructure Developments in South East Europe

The end of 2015 was marked by numerous crucial developments for the Balkan natural gas sector and that of Greece in particular, as a number of projects picked up speed. To put things in perspective, 6 out of 9 Priority Projects of the Southern Gas Corridor are either entirely located in or pass through the Greek territory (plus 1 project targeting internal bottlenecks in Cyprus to end isolation and to allow for the transmission of gas from the Eastern Mediterranean region). While out of some 40 priority projects identified throughout the Central Eastern and South Eastern Europe Corridor, Greece hosts at least 5.
